A Weekend in New York City
This past weekend my husband and I stayed in New York city! Even though I grew up close to New York this was actually the first time I stayed at a hotel in the city. What took me so long?? I’m definitely a city girl and the even though I’m living in California right now I still prefer east coast cities.
Since comfort was key on the train ride into the city I decided to wear jeans, light layers and my Everlane Street Sandals. Seriously, these sandals are sooo comfortable and got me through the whole weekend. And we did A LOT of walking. I actually tried to wear my converse sneakers but traded them out for these sandals half way through the day. I’m actually thinking about buying another pair just in case these wear out. That’s how much I love these. I would definitely suggest preordering these sandals – they are coming back in stock on July 13th and last time they sold out fast!

We stayed at the NYLO – a modern boutique hotel in Manhattan. I loved the 1920’s vibe of the lobby, lounges and bar. The hotel was is located in a really great location. It was a couple of blocks from the Natural History Museum, Central Park, and tons of shops and restaurants (including Shake Shack!).
The hotel rooms had a cool modern vibe. I loved the heavy blue velvety curtains and funky lamps. And we have to talk about the NYLO NYTE bed – UH-MAZE-ING. Seriously, it’s probably the best bed I’ve ever slept in. No wonder it has it’s own name.
Oh, and there is also lighting UNDER the bed which gives the room a really cool vibe at night. The room also uses a lot of metal accents – like the colorful doors on the cabinets and the shelving in the bathroom. So if you are looking for a hotel with a warm yet modern feel then this is the hotel for you! I would definitely go back. Hopefully I’ll be back in the city soon!

I’m totally a small town girl (born and raised in Northern California), but I agree that New York City is way better than cities in California! P.S. Your outfit is great!
