Transitioning into Fall with the Jenni Kayne Riviera Slip Dress
I’ve literally been living in Jenni Kayne this summer. The dresses are just SO effortless and comfortable. The latest addition to my closet has been the Jenni Kayne Riviera Slip Dress. Even though this is technically a summer dress I know I’ll easily be able to transition it into fall.

Fabric and Feel
I was initially intrigue by the Riviera Slip Dress because it said it was made from raw silk. I don’t own any raw silk pieces so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Turns out it has a heavy, textured feel that resembles linen! It’s definitely not the silky feel you get from “regular” silk. But I actually love that for this dress. I wanted to be able to wear this dress casually during the day and the raw silk is actually great for that. It doesn’t feel too dressy to wear during the day but I can still totally dress it up for evenings.
I do want to mention that this dress has “pills” from the textured raw silk so if you don’t want that kind of texture then this is probably not for you. I believe Jenni Kayne has the Rio Slip Dress that is a silkier, smoother fabric so I would try that instead!
Size and Fit
This dress does run BIG so I would definitely size down. I’m usually a small in Jenni Kayne but I went with XS for this dress – and it’s still has some room. In comparison, my Jenni Kayne Leopard Slip Dress is a size small and is still slightly smaller than the XS Riviera Slip Dress.
Sadly, it looks like the black version is out of stock. But it’s still available in a lovely cream color and green color! I actually really like the green! And you don’t have to worry about the cream color being see-through because the fabric is rather thick.
Styling a Slip Dress for Fall
The thing I love about Jenni Kayne is that pretty much all of the items on the site work together. It’s almost like a capsule wardrobe collection! It’s so easy to mix and match dresses, sweater, and footwear to create multiple looks.
To transition this outfit to fall I’ll simply add any of the Jenni Kayne sweaters over top and add a pair of booties or closed toed shoes! Right now I have the Cotton Fisherman Sweater layered over my shoulders. This cotton sweater is a great transition pieces because it’s not as warm as a wool or cashmere sweater so I can wear it in cooler summer weather.
When the weather gets even cooler I’ll swap my cotton sweater for the Cashmere Fisherman Sweater, Cabin Sweater, or Cashmere cocoon cardigan. I’ll also add my Shearling Mules from Jenni Kayne for a cozy look!
