The Sézane Serge Trousers: Trading my Skinny Jeans for Straight Leg Denim

Lately I’ve been trying to update my denim collection with pieces that aren’t skinny jeans (because apparently skinny jeans are out!). I pick up a few things from Sézane each month so this month I thought I’d give another pair of Sézane denim a try! I ordered the Serge Trousers which are a 100% cotton, straight leg style in dark denim.

This is my third pair of denim from Sézane. I have the Perfect Slim jeans and the Augusto Trousers and I love them both! So I had high hopes for the Serge Trousers.

Serge Trousers Size and Fit

I’m wearing size 6 which is my usual size in Sézane bottoms. I wear the size 6 in the Augusto Trousers as well. However, they don’t fit as well as the Augusto Trousers on me. I found that they fit well through my hip area but theres a big back gap. Because of that they feel a little big in the waist but I don’t think I could have sized down. Wearing a belt does help though! Sizing notes on the Serge Trousers suggest to size down if in between sizes so you might want to take that into account.

Other than that I do like the style of the Serge Trousers. They have a straight leg that’s slightly wider than some of my other straight leg styles. They kind of remind me of boot cut jeans. The great thing about these jeans is that they are leg lengthening. The longer inseam means they need to be worn with a heel which in turn makes your legs appear longer. And even though they are 100% cotton with no stretch they still feel really comfortable.

How to Style Straight Leg Jeans

I paired the Serge Trousers with a 70’s inspired blouse from Doen and a suede belt and boots from Sézane. I think the suede + dark floral print of the blouse gives this outfit a slightly retro vibe. These jeans are on the longer side so they work best with shoes with a heel. The Sézane Phoebe Mid Boots work perfectly with these jeans because the denim is wide enough to wear the boots underneath. Since there’s still a chill in the air I needed the Sézane Scott Trench but I think it really does add to the look.
