The Jane Blouse and Way High Denim
I’m taking it back to the 60’s with my outfit today. This blouse pays homage to the style of Jane Birkin and is aptly named “The Jane Blouse“. And these jeans are SUPER high waisted with a slight wide leg. The combo of the billowy blouse and vintage denim gives this outfit some retro flare!
Doen Jane Blouse
The Jane Blouse is one of Doen’s staple styles – you’ll see it return year after year in different colors and prints. At first I didn’t really get what the hype was about. It seemed VERY oversized to me and just too much fabric. But then I went to the Doen store at the Brentwood Country Mart to try on a few things in person and the pickle color of this blouse really stood out to me. I LOVE a puke green/pea green color…haha…so I had to try it on. Turns out – it’s super comfortable and I love the way it draped. I’m also a sucker for this shade (it’s more green IRL – my filter makes it appear more brown). I did size down in this top though – from a small to an extra small. There is A LOT of room in this blouse but I didn’t want to size down further because it might have been too short.
Even though there’s a lot of fabric, it’s very thin and sheer, so it doesn’t feel bulky when you tuck it in. I prefer to wear it tucked in because it helps to control the billowy-ness a little bit. Next I need to try rolling up the sleeves like they have done on the website. Turns out – I’m a big fan of this blouse because it’s sooo comfortable. I would consider getting it in another color or print. (There’s a beautiful floral print Jane Blouse available at Net-a-Porter right now!)
Everlane The Way High Denim
I think The Jane Blouse goes perfectly with a pair of high waist denim. I love the Way High denim from Everlane because it’s a super high waist and a slightly wide leg. I think the rise on these jeans is about 12″ depending on what size you get. I found that the waist gaps in the back because the rise is higher. But other than that I don’t have complaints. The denim is soft and stretches out a bit with wear. I like the raw hem and the shape of the pant leg. It’s almost like a wide leg jean – but not quite. For reference I’m wearing size 26 and my waist is 27″ and hips are 37″.
Doen Pomme Cardigan
It’s still chilly here in Pennsylvania so my Doen Pomme Cardigan definitely comes in handy. It’s the cotton version of the Pomme Sweater and I love it. I got it on major sale during one of Doen’s rare sales.
Tips for Shopping Doen
I know Doen pieces can be pricey! So I have a few tips for how to score Doen at a discount:
- Sign up for the Doen Newsletter to be alerted about the few sales that they have each year. I’ve scored most of my Doen pieces during these sales and they are anywhere from 30-50% off! That’s how I got the Pomme Sweater for an amazing price.
- Shop Doen at Net-a-Porter. Doen creates a few pieces exclusively for Net-a-Porter each season. You can get 10% off your first Net-a-Porter purchase. And at the end of the season there’s usually a few of the Doen pieces on major sale!
- Check out @doensecondhand on Instagram for used and new Doen pieces that people are selling (usually at a discount). There are a lot of new listings every week!
