The Green Floral Prairie Dress of My Dreams from Christy Dawn
I’ve been a fan of Christy Dawn for a couple years now but never bit the bullet and purchased anything. But that all changed over Black Friday when I took advantage of their 30% off sale! I fell in love with this gorgeous green, floral prairie dress and had to add it to my cart. It’s not technically called a prairie dress but I just can’t help thinking like I look like a character from Little House on the Prairie. I’m not mad about it though!

Not only do I love the stunning green shade and the design of this dress, I also love that it’s ethically and sustainably made in LA. Christy Dawn uses “deadstock” fabric – fabric that’s leftover from other fashion companies – for their pieces. They cultivate close relationships with everyone involved in the garment making process to make sure everyone is supported. They are working on a Farm-to-Closet initiative to not only practice sustainability but to also make sure they are regenerative and that their practices and processes replenish the health of the soil, planet, and people.
So even though the prices of their pieces are a little higher than fast fashion or ethical fashion brands, there’s a really good reason for it! I’ve shared this graphic before but a lot of work goes into ethically and sustainably made clothes.
How to Style A Christy Dawn “Prairie” Dress
I felt it was very appropriate to pair this dress with my lace up booties. I feel like all I need is a bonnet and a basket to complete my “Little House on the Prairie” look. I’d also love to throw on this Pomme Cardigan from Doen that I picked up on major sale during Black Friday. (Here’s a similar one available from Net-A-Porter).

I was also planning on wearing this dress with a pair of suede heels in a complimentary color – like mustard. This cognac suede pair would look nice as well. Velvet accessories and shoes would also be a nice option with this dress for the holidays. I love the idea of adding a velvet bow or headband!

And if a Christy Dawn dress is out of your price range then the best place to get a similar dress would be on Etsy or somewhere that sells vintage pieces! It takes a little more digging but you can find some unique gems on places like Etsy.
