The Doen Allene Dress: The Perfect Summer to Fall Transition Dress
Even though all I’m hearing about right now is fall fashion – it still feels like summer to me! I want to be able to wear all my cute sweaters and boots but it’s too hot for that right now. So the solution is to pick “summer” pieces that can easily transition to fall. When I saw the Doen Allene dress I knew it would be the perfect choice.

The Doen Allene Dress
The Allene dress was part of Doen’s Pre-Fall collection which included a bunch of cute pieces in fall florals. I originally had my eye on the Rhodia Dress (which I still love) but I thought the Allene might be a little easier to layer with since it doesn’t have the puff sleeve.
The Allene dress is 100% midweight silk twill so it has a little bit more texture than regular silk. The details I love are the mother-of-pearl buttons down the front and the back waist tie. It’s a very classic silhouette and reminds me of something I’d find in a vintage shop. I’m wearing the size small which is my usual size in Doen.
A Summer to Fall Dress
I love that the Allene dress is sleeveless because that makes it really comfortable to wear when the weather is warmer. The buttons down the front also allow you to unbutton the dress to show a little more skin. In the summer I’d simply wear this dress with a pair of sandals or strappy heels and a cute straw bag.
But I think styling it for fall is going to be really fun! I unintentionally copied the model’s look by pairing the dress with croc-embossed boots. I love it styled with a blazer as well but instead I switched it out for a trench coat. Sweaters and cardigans will also look great over this dress.
A trench coat is a must-have fall item because it makes it really easy to transition your summer dresses into fall looks. I love the Scott Trench from Sézane. It’s a classic cut that will never go out of style. I love Sézane’s newest trench style too but it sold out really quickly.
My boots are old from Schutz but this years version is very similar. I’m really excited about knee boots and over the knee boots this year because I’m planning on wearing a lot of skirts and dresses!
