The Best Red Outfit Ideas for Summer

I’m seeing red this summer! I’ve noticed that I’ve been gravitating towards red pieces recently, and as a neutral lover, I’m kind of surprised! But if I think about it, red is such a classic color that it almost feels like a neutral. Does that make any sense?! It is a bold color, but I often associate it with classy, French women – think a red lip or dress. So I’ve put together some of my best red outfit ideas to inspire you to wear more red this summer!

Red Silk Skirt Outfit

I don’t believe in saving silk just for special occasions – why spend the money if you are only going to wear it a few times? I don’t care what people say, I prefer it over semi-synthetics like viscose. Silk is natural and breathable, which makes it great for summer.

Sezane Sally Skirt Review

The Sally Skirt I’m wearing is 100% silk, which makes me very happy. I love that it still feels casual even though it is a long silk skirt. I think it feels more laid back because the silk is light and textured (not shiny), and the waist is elastic. I’m wearing size 6, and I’d say it runs true to size.

Since it was a bit chillier when I took these photos, I paired the skirt with an open-knit cotton cardigan. It’s VERY breathable, so I think it will work in warmer weather too. But in the heat of summer, a red silk skirt looks great with a cropped white tee or lace top!

Even with a “fancier” silk skirt, you can still dress it down for everyday wear – like this skirt from Reformation! BUT sometimes it’s hard to find silk skirts, so a similar fabric is viscose. Rouje makes some of my favorite red viscose skirts.

Red Linen Mini Dress Outfit

Of all the warm-weather fabrics, linen is probably my top choice. It’s SUPER breathable and feels great in hot weather. If you aren’t a fan of creases, you can always look for a linen-cotton blend, like the dress I’m wearing below! It still creases, but it’s not nearly as bad.

Sezane Victoire Dress Review

I love the Victoire mini dress because it’s so dang comfortable – especially in hot weather. The tank straps and straight cut of the dress allow it to just hang off my body. It does feel short (to me), but I just wear athletic shorts underneath, so I don’t have to worry about bending over. I’m wearing size 6, and it’s loose enough without being too big. P.S. It’s also available in black, if red isn’t your color.

This dress is easy to style for summer. Just add a straw bag and sandals, and you’re good to go! I just got the Ilaria Sandals from Sézane, and they are the perfect mix of casual and dressy. I also added a silk scarf to accent my bag, and I wore my charm necklace with this cute cherry charm to tie in with the red.

Red Bodysuit with Skirt Outfit

I’m not usually one to wear bodysuits, but there is something nice about not having to worry about having your top come untucked. And this cute red bodysuit from Rouje pairs perfectly with their skirts.

Rouje Lidy Bodysuit Review

The Lidy Bodysuit is technically a knit, but it doesn’t feel too heavy. Plus, the low neckline and short sleeves help keep you cool. The standout feature for me is the neckline. I find the shape really interesting, sexy, and flattering. Unfortunately, there are a few downsides to this top. It’s made from viscose and polyester, which is NOT my favorite fabric combo – especially for summer. And the bottom of the jumpsuit offers little coverage, giving me a wedgie! I should mention that I have a longer torso, so the wedgie might be because it’s a little too short for me. I’m wearing size 40 (US 8), which is my usual size in Rouje because their pieces run small. If you are between sizes, you should take your larger size!

I took a note from the styling on Rouje’s website for this red bodysuit. They paired it with the Ilaria Skirt, which features shades of pink, purple, and green. They also have this skirt in a pea-green shade, so I paired it with my Sézane Sandals (option). Once again, I made this outfit a little more casual by adding a straw bag and an oversized denim jacket.

Red Floral Dress Outfits

If a solid red dress is a little overwhelming, I suggest a red floral print instead! A floral print helps diffuse the bold red shade a little bit. As you can see, I love a red floral dress! The latest addition to my closet is the Lysandra Dress from Christy Dawn. The red flowers in the print are mixed with light pink, yellow, and cream flowers, which also gives this dress a lot of styling options. It also features a beautiful lace and ribbon neckline that really sets this dress apart from others. It was a little chilly on the day I shot these photos, so I’m wearing a red cardigan.
