Styling a Green Gingham Midi Dress for Summer
If there’s one dress that screams summer to me it’s the gingham dress. It makes me feel like I’m wearing a picnic – in the best possible way! When I saw this green gingham dress last summer I instantly feel in love. The length, the color, and the simple style were perfect! I was actually pregnant at the time so I also wanted a dress with stretch and this one is a thicker knit with a lot of stretch so it was perfect!
Since this dress has thin straps I like to add a little layer with a cropped denim jacket. A button down shirt tied at the waist would look great with with too! Preferably a white linen button down so that you can keep cool. If a gingham dress screams summer then the perfect shoe to pair with it is an espadrille. Espadrilles are THE summer shoe, in my opinion. I just got these Everlane D’Orsay Espadrilles and I love that they have a low heel. I’m pretty tall already so I don’t like to wear heeled shoes for everyday wear. But if you are a little height challenged then heeled espadrilles are perfect – especially with a midi dress. A lot of times you need a little height with a midi dress to help elongate your legs. I added a little mini bag to match my shoes but I think a straw or rattan basket bag would look PERFECT with this look.
