I’ve been wanting striped shorts since last year but I always seemed to miss out.  So when I saw these shorts at the Gap Factory store I picked them up right away.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing them a lot this summer.  I added the scarf for some print mixing (and to keep me warm in the air conditioning).
I can’t believe it’s Friday already! I don’t share a lot of personal stories here on the blog because honestly, my life’s not that interesting! But I thought I’d share what’s been happening recently. Work has been slow…so slow that I only work about three days a month.  So it’s not really a job…haha.  (I’m a background actor/extra in TV and movies if you didn’t know).  I’m looking into other employment but haven’t had much luck.  Anyway, I had an interview for a commercial last week and it didn’t go well. I’m not really an actor. Even though it’s called background acting – it doesn’t really require any acting skills. We are more like moveable props. But in this “interview” they asked me to improvise a conversation with myself and an invisible person for a panel of about 8 people.  I’ve never acted in front of people before and don’t have any improv acting skills.  Needless to say it didn’t go well and was very embarrassing! (Which led to pajamas and margaritas in the middle of the day).  I didn’t get that job, obviously.

I had another interview today for a TV show and I has hoping they wouldn’t make me do anything crazy (aka – any acting!). I was told all we had to do was walk into the room, scream, and run out…haha.  I was still a little scared because I honestly didn’t know if I was good at screaming on cue! We auditioned with a partner and there were three other couples auditioning too.  But I’m happy to announce that I got the job! Apparently, I can’t act but I can scream! haha…  It’s not that big of a deal because it only gives me one day of work but it’s something.  And I thought I’d share in case you were curious about the world of background acting!
Anyway, I hope you all have a fun weekend! My friends and I are continuing our X-Men movie marathon to get ready for the newest X-Men movie coming out soon.  Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

  2. Sorry work has been slow, but glad to hear you can scream! haha!

I love this look on you – the stripes, the pastels, the flowered scarf.. I'm sold! I need to recreate this look asap!

  3. No matter what they are for, bad interviews are just one of the most painful things. Glad you got the screaming gig, and I hope more jobs come your way! I can relate to being out of work and it's kind of like I really enjoy having the free time, but I still need a job and I have been feeling guilty about my lack of ambition to go back to work.

Also Love those striped shorts, I got a pair at Old Navy last year and when I saw those at the gap I literally had to talk myself out of them because they are nearly identical. I have a stripe problem.

I'm sorry that first interview went poorly, that would have freaked me out. But congrats on landing the second gig! That's awesome 🙂 I hope you share more stories about background acting, it is very interesting!

  7. I love this Jess, so Cali chic! That stinks about the acting audition – but I'm glad you got the next one. I give you tons of credit – performing in front of a panel of people is terrifying to me. So, go you for keeping up with it! 😉
