The grounds behind the hotel
The Langham Pasadena
My husband and I recently got that chance to go on a little staycation over Easter weekend while my MIL was in town to watch Harrison! It was only our second time away from the baby since he was born. Since we don’t live close to family, we don’t often get a chance to get away so it was really special!
We chose to stay at The Langham in Pasadena because it was close and I knew the hotel was gorgeous! I mean, just look at the above photo! We’d been to The Langham for a wedding before so we were a little familiar with the hotel but had never stayed there. And fun fact – I actually filmed a few scenes of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 here back when I was working as a background actor/extra! We also chose this hotel because the rates were actually really affordable!
We checked in on Friday and the first thing we did was get Afternoon Tea with Wedgewood in the Lobby Lounge. We were treated to tea sandwiches, scones, and tons of cakes and cookies! We upgraded to the Royal Tea which includes champagne, more cookies, and the delicious strawberry dessert you see below! Not to mention we got to pick our favorite tea from the menu.
*Afternoon tea was comped for us but we paid for the rest of our stay at The Langham
After tea we went back to our room to check out the amenities and just RELAX! We chose a room on the bottom floor that opened up to a shared patio. I loved being able to just walk out into the beautiful grounds from our room! All of the rooms also feature a full marble bathroom – hello bubble bath! Other features of the room included a king bed, chaise lounge (which I loved lounging on), and a nespresso maker!
You can see our little outdoor patio below. Sadly, it was a little too cool to sit outside for long periods of time but I I still loved it! The only downside is that it is a shared patio so the adjoining room also has access to it. I knew that going into it and, like I said, I didn’t end up sitting out there so it wasn’t a problem. There are other rooms with private patios as well and next time I would probably choose that. My only other complaint about this room was that it was two doors down from a staff entrance. So in the morning we could hear noise from staff walking in and out and pushing loud carts occasionally.
But overall I was pleased with the room. Our room was a slight upgrade from the cheapest room options so I’m sure there are many other luxurious rooms available.
Dining at The Langham definitely didn’t disappoint! That evening we ate outdoors at The Terrace Restaurant. I loved that there were so many dining options within the hotel. We never had to leave!
The Terrace Restaurant had views of the amazing pool area which you can see below. There really were no bad views at The Langham!
The Terrace Restaurant is off to the right
I reeeaallly wanted to get in the pool while I was there but it was a little too chilly. There were some brave soles that did get in though! There was a small heated jacuzzi there as well but it was always a little crowded and I didn’t feel like getting in. Maybe next time!
Instead, we spend most of our time eating, lounging, and exploring the grounds. On Saturday we had breakfast at The Terrace Restaurant and light bites at The Taproom, which is a cool Prohibition era type lounge! At night we had an AMAZING steak dinner at The Royce Wood Fired Steakhouse. Yes – basically all we did was eat while we were there!
My favorite part about The Langham was probably the grounds. They have beautiful gardens all over the place with lots of nooks for sitting. The Japanese garden is gorgeous and definitely offered lots of picture spots. I also managed to find a little herb garden! There’s a reason why so many weddings are held here – it’s gorgeous!
Since it was Easter Weekend, there were some really cute Easter themed activities for kids. It almost made me wish we had brought Harrison…haha.
Overall, our stay was AMAZING. Like I said, we didn’t leave the hotel. There was enough to do on the premises – from lounging, to swimming, to eating, to walking the grounds. The Langham also has a beautiful fitness center and spa. I didn’t get any treatments but we took a tour of the facilities and – WOW. It almost made me want to work out!
The Langham is also ideally located in Pasadena – which is one of my favorite cities in LA. There is a beautiful downtown area with tons of food and shopping. I love the old city vibe of Pasadena as well. There’s also museums and the stunning Huntington Gardens close by. You can even take a shuttle from the hotel to these places around Pasadena! So there’s definitely a lot to do if you don’t feel like staying at the hotel the whole time.
