8 Sezane Bags Reviewed + Styled: Everything you need to know!

Recently, I’ve curated quite the collection of Sezane bags – 7 and counting! Since I have several styles and sizes ranging from basket bags to leather bags to tote bags I thought it would be the perfect time for a detailed Sezane bag review! I’m also sharing a YouTube video review with even more details!

8 Sezane Bags Reviewed

Basket Bags

My favorite summer bags from Sézane are their woven raffia basket bags. A lot of them are easily packable because they can be laid flat (and even folded in some cases). I bought the Ralph woven bag (seen below) back in the summer of 2021 and wore it non-stop. I’ve been pretty rough with this bag – I even stuffed it in my suitcase to take on my vacation to Greece – and it’s held up great! Sadly, my Ralph bag is not available anymore but the Rosie Bag is a similar style.

Justine Basket Bag

The Justine Basket bag was a new addition in the summer of 2023 and since then they’ve come out with more colors and 3 sizes – mini, standard, and maxi.

French Basket Bag

The Justine Bag is their standard size and perfect for your everyday summer essentials. I picked up the Deep Natural Raffia version which uses a slightly darker raffia with a dark navy leather. It has two non-adjustable handles – long shoulder straps and short hand straps. The inside cotton pouch is attached to the bottom of the bag and has leather drawstrings to keep the pouch shut.

One of my favorite features of this bag is the drawstring pouch. It allows me to keep my valuables secure and I don’t have to worry about items slipping out of the bag. I also like that you can place items on top of the pouch if you want for easy access. I’m able to carry a lot of things like in this bag. All of my essentials fit – like keys, phone, makeup, etc. But I can also fit items like a pair of ballet flats and even a light sweater.

The downside to this bag is the price. At $285 it is their most expensive basket bag style available. If you are looking for a large basket bag the Paloma is a great option and slightly cheaper. And for a mid size basket bag the raffia Farrow Bag is a great option at only $170.

Mini Justine Basket Bag

The Mini Justine Basket has all the same features as the regular Justine Bag but it is significantly smaller. I thought I might be able to use this as an everyday bag but it’s better as a special occasion bag. It only really holds my cellphone, keys, wallet, and a few other small items.

I think this bag is really cute but at $245 it’s almost the same price as the regular Justine Bag! I don’t think this bag is worth it unless you are specifically looking for a mini summer bag. There is a black raffia colorway that I think would look really great for a summer date night!

JUNE BASKET BAG

I caved and bought ANOTHER basket bag. I’ve been interested in trying the June Basket Bag because it’s one of the more affordable large basket bags. And when I saw it in this fun orange floral embroidered design, I couldn’t resist!

Christy Dawn Fernanda Dress Review

This is a no-frills basket bag. It doesn’t have any pockets or pouches inside to keep things organized, no leather details, and only shoulder straps. But it does fit a lot! I believe it’s larger than the Justine Bag. Since it is pretty deep, I feel my items are secure. I use small pouches to keep things organized within the bag. And just an FYI – the embroidered detail is only on one side of the bag.

Sadly, this print is sold out. But every spring/summer Sézane releases new prints!

Sezane Leather Crossbody Bags

Milo Bag

The Milo Bag is a classic leather crossbody bag that is a perfect French wardrobe staple. It has a smooth leather exterior, cotton lining, adjustable shoulder strap, and a beautiful gold clasp. With the adjustable strap it can be worn as a crossbody bag or shoulder bag. Inside are three accordion-style compartments. The middle compartment is the largest and has room for a wallet, phone, sunglasses, keys, and more. The Milo is the largest leather crossbody bag from Sézane that I have.

I have noticed that the heritage leather does scratch rather easily. The website does say that the leather will develop a nice patina over time – which means it’s not going to stay perfect. I don’t mind the scratches because I think it adds character. But it’s something to be aware of.

Claude Bag

I bought my first Sézane Claude bag back in 2017 and I still have it! Since then, Sézane has given the Claude bag a major update. In 2017 the quality reminded me more of a Madewell bag (and the price point was similar as well). And while no one really likes a price increase I will say that the Sézane Claude has definitely improved and is much higher quality than the original. (See below – original Claude bag on left, new Claude bag on right.)

The Claude is very similar to the Milo. It has the same strap style, gold clasp, and compartments. The difference is the rounded shape and the size. It also comes in a lot more color options. This is a really cute bag – I love the rounded shape. However, the shape makes it harder to fit square/rectangular items like a wallet or cellphone. The Claude Bag is smaller than the Milo bag. I can only comfortably fit a small wallet, cellphone, keys, and lipgloss.

I have the Claude in Smooth Blue and it’s a lovely “neutral” blue in my opinion. And this color leather doesn’t scratch as much as the Natural Heritage Milo bag. If you are looking for a small crossbody bag with a lot of color options, the Claude is for you!

Romeo Bag

I was drawn to this particular Romeo Bag because of the mix of colors and textures. It has brown braided leather, yellow snakeskin embossed leather, and light blue suede. There are a few color options with the Romeo Bag and also a Large Romeo Bag size option.

The Romeo has slightly different section than the Milo or Claude. It has two large sections inside with one patch pocket (no zipper pockets). There’s a small section on the front and patch pocket on the back. And it closes with a magnetic closure instead of the clasp.

It’s hard to tell but I think the Romeo bag is slightly smaller than the Claude Bag. It’s definitely not as wide – I can just fit my iphone 14 inside. And while I can technically fit more items in the 2 large interior sections, it makes the bag really fat and hard to close. So you can’t over stuff it.

Sezane Tote Bags

Romie Bag

The Romie Bag was a new style that was released last year. When I first saw it I fell in love with the structure and smooth leather. I also thought the strap design was interesting. I felt like this bag and the Mara bag were unique from the other bags that Sézane has to offer.

Romie Bag from Sézane, classic tote bag

This bag is kind of like a bottomless pit…haha. There are no pockets so you have to use your own pouches to keep things organized. I can fit my 13″ Macbook Air in this bag if I put it in vertically. And it’s definitely big enough to fit all of my essentials plus some. The Romie tote doesn’t have a closure but the straps do keep it closed when on your shoulder.

Mara Bag

I also love the structure of the Mara Bag as well. You can see it’s very similar to the Romie but in a wider tote shape. It has the same pinched leather details, sliding handles, and smooth leather. It’s unlined with no pockets, just like the Romie.

The Mara is definitely a bigger tote so I don’t carry it around as much as the Romie. I find the Romie has enough space for everyday. But sometimes it’s nice to be able to fit more things – like an extra sweater or pair of flats. Even though the Mara is wider, I still have to put my laptop in vertically. The bottom isn’t wide enough for my laptop to fit horizontally.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sezane Bags

Where are Sézane Bags Made?

According to Sézane’s website, their bags are primarily made in Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Madagascar in workshops where employee safety and well-being is ensured and lives up to their Code of Ethics. Their workshops are also audited by third parties to ensure proper working conditions. You can find the specific location of of where a bag is made on an item’s product details page.

What are sezane bags made from?

When choosing materials for their bags and other collections, Sézane considers the environmental impact, quality and durability of the material, and price. That is why Sézane uses genuine leather for their bags as they’ve found that vegan options are often less environmentally friendly. However, the hides used by their tanneries are recycled skins from the food industry so that there is less waste. And they try to use environmentally friendly leather tanning processes whenever possible. You can read more about Sézane’s production processes on their Sustainability page.

How to Care for Sezane Bags

Sézane has taken the guess work out of caring for your genuine leather bags by creating a detailed Leather Care Guide on their website. Here you can get care information for the different types of leather that they sell. But their smooth heritage leather, which is used for a lot of their bags, can be cleaned with a chamois cloth and polished with their heritage balm to remove scratches.

It looks like their leather care items aren’t available to ship to the US. However, I have received their leather balm included for free with my leather purchases. It wouldn’t hurt to email customer service and ask if they can include the heritage balm with your bag purchase just to be sure. If you live near a Sézane store I would stop by and see if they have it there.

YouTube Review

I also have a YouTube video reviewing all of my Sézane Bags! In this video I go into more details about the bags, size comparisons, and what I can fit in each bag.
