Sézane Achille Jumper Review
The Achille Jumper is one of Sézane’s essential pieces. I believe you can find it on their site year round released in different colors. However, I hesitated to buy it for the longest time. It just looked too oversized to me and I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. I finally decided to take the plunge this winter and order it since everyone raves about it. So today’s post is a Sézane Achille Jumper Review!
Sézane Achille Jumper Review
The Sézane Achilles Jumper is an oversized cardigan made from 40% polyamide, 32% kid mohair, and 28% merino wool. It has a deep V neck, ballooned sleeves, and 4 buttons down the front. Every year it is available in multiple colors – from neutrals to brights!
Size and Fit
My measurements: 5′ 8″, 115lbs, 33-28-38
This cardigan is definitely oversized! I’m wearing the size Small (which is my usual size in Sézane). The size notes on the website suggest to size down if you want a slightly more fitted look. I almost took the XS but decided I did really want an oversized look – and I definitely got it! It’s very roomy in the body and the sleeves are long enough so I think it would definitely work if I wanted to size down.
It also has a pretty deep V neck so I would suggest wearing a cami underneath. I do have an undershirt on but I didn’t really want to see it – so I pulled the sweater up over my shoulders so that it’s less deep (if that makes sense). The result is a high-low look – more cropped in the front and longer in the back. If I pulled the front down more (like how the models wear it in on the website) there wouldn’t be such a dramatic high-low effect.
Material and Feel
This sweater is definitely cozy and warm. It’s a pearl rib knit which makes it feel chunky. The mohair gives it a very fuzzy texture as well. This sweater is definitely not as soft as other Sézane sweaters that I have. It does have a slightly itchy/scratchy feel. Because of that I will always be wearing an undershirt with it. But as long as I’m wearing an undershirt I don’t notice the itch.
How to Style the Achille Jumper
I love to just wear the Achille Jumper with a pair of jeans and booties. But I think it would look amazing with a midi skirt, thick belt, and tall boots (you can see it styled like that on Sézane’s website). This jumper is also pretty versatile since you can wear it with the buttons in the front or back. If you are feeling creative, you can knot the jumper in the front or back (see it here!). I also need to try it layered over one of Sézane’s button down shirts.
Is the Sézane Achille Jumper Worth It?
If you like oversized fits then this is a really great cardigan. I love how it fits and lays. It’s usually available in a wide variety of colors and sizes go from XXS to XXXL so you should be able to find one that works for you! I’m actually tempted to get it in another color – that’s how much I like it!
I wouldn’t get this cardigan if you don’t like a boxy fit. Even if you sized down it would still be very wide in the body. I also wouldn’t get this cardigan if you don’t like fuzzy knits. This sweater probably does shed (I haven’t really noticed it because I don’t mind shedding/fuzzy knits so I haven’t been paying attention). This cardigan is also not the softest cardigan I’ve ever tried. If you are looking for a beautiful, soft, oversized cardigan I would check out this one from Jenni Kayne.
