If I’m being honest, shopping secondhand has always kind of intimidated me. Every time I’d go into a secondhand store everything always seems so disorganized and the thought of spending hours combing through racks of clothes to find a hidden “gem” does not sound like fun. so THANK GOODNESS for sites like thredUP! I can shop like-new and gently worn items from the comfort of my couch!

thredUP is the largest online consignment and thrift store that carries thousands of items for up to 90% off retail!

Even though they have thousands of items everything is organized and easily searchable so you can find exactly what you are looking for. thredUP carries everything from clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories from your favorite brands like Zara, Old Navy and H&M as well as designer brands!

I also love thredUP because you can sell your clothes there too! They have “Clean Out” bags where they send you a bag, you fill it with clothes, send it back, and they give you money for the items they accept! It’s soooo easy. I’ve actually been using there Clean Out bags for years – even before I ever shopped on thredUp.

Celebrate Secondhand Month with thredUP by pledging #NoNewClothes for August!

Did you know Americans buy 5 times more clothing than they did in 1980?! thredUP’s mission is to bring awareness to fast fashion waste and encourage people to shop secondhand and to buy #NoNewClothes for the month of August.

I’m definitely guilty of contributing to the waste and buying lots of new trendy clothes that only last a couple of months. I feel like it’s especially hard being a fashion blogger because I want to show off and style the latest items for my followers. If I’m being honest, I don’t know that I can NOT buy any new clothes for a whole month…haha. But I have been going through my closet to re-evaluate what I really need and getting rid of clothes that I don’t wear anymore. I’ll definitely be using those “Clean Out” bags! I’m also selling items on my Poshmark!

My thredUp Shopping Haul

thredUP was kind enough to give me shopping credit to try out buying secondhand from their site for the first time! I’m sooo excited about what I was able to pick up! thredUP is a great place to check out if you want to add some designer pieces to your closet. I’ve always wanted an Equipment blouse but they are pretty pricey. Luckily,  thredUP has a ton of Equipment blouses to choose from! So I was able to pick up 2 silk blouses for about $35 each and save about $370! That’s insane! I also picked up a sweater tank from Club Monaco and this super cute polka dot dress that I’m wearing!

This polka dot dress is from a brand I’ve never heard of but I don’t care. It’s sooo cute! I was able to get it for about $20. Usually, there isn’t more than one of the same piece on the site BUT I found this dress in a size Medium (missing the tie at the waist).

I still have some shopping credit available so I keep checking the site for pieces from Rebecca Taylor, Equipment, Club Monaco, Alice + Olivia and more! I’m also keeping my eye out for trend pieces I’ve been wanting to try out – like leopard print skirts and beaded bags.

I’ve definitely changed my mind about shopping secondhand. thredUP will now be the first place I’m going to look when I’m thinking about trying a trend or want to add a designer piece to my closet. I’m SO happy with the pieces that I got and I ended up saving $532 off of the original retail price. SCORE!
