Nisolo Carmen Chelsea Boot Review
The Nisolo Carmen Chelsea Boot is the perfect mix of comfort, style, and durability. It’s made up of a durable, water resilient leather upper, elastic side panels, and shock-absorbing, studded rubber soles. The custom memory foam insoles provide extra comfort and are also removable for easy cleaning. The Carmen Chelsea Boot is available in three colors – Almond, Black, and Brandy.
Size and Fit
I’m either an 8.5 or 9 across shoe brands depending on the style and fit. I also have thin and narrow feet so that effects my sizing as well.
I’ve found Nisolo shoe sizing to be a bit inconsistent for my feet. I have some pairs in size 8.5 and some in size 9. For the Carmen Chelsea Boot I went with the 8.5 because I have tried the 8.5 and 9 in the Amalia Boot and found the size 9 to be a little too big. I think the 8.5 Carmen Chelsea Boot works well for me. It was hard getting them on the first time but after a couple wears they already feel looser. I would say that the 8.5 just fits – I definitely couldn’t go smaller. I also haven’t fully broken them in yet so I’m assuming that after wearing them a bunch this fall the leather will soften, stretch, and mold to my foot. Nisolo has some tips for breaking in your shoes on their website
If you are in between sizes with a narrow foot like me I would say that you could possibly take your smaller size if you like your boots to have a tight fit and don’t plan on wearing thick socks. If you would like to wear thick boot socks and like a little more wiggle room in your boots I would take your larger size. For those of you with wide feet, I would consider sizing up.
Overall, I do really like these boots. I especially love the welt and the mix of brown and black in the heel. I think these boots look The outsole is a studded rubber which gives the shoes more grip.
How to Style
These boots definitely have that “rugged but elegant” feel to them. I could wear these mucking around on the farm but also with a dress out to lunch. For their debut I decided to pair them with the Leontine Sweater Dress from Sézane.

I think this is a nice pre-fall or early fall outfit. I’m a huge fan of Sézane’s Leontine sweater so when it got released as a dress I snatched it up right away! The sweater dress is 100% cotton so it’s not overly heavy or hot. And I can get away with wearing shorter boots with this dress while the weather isn’t too cold. My Sézane Milo bag happens to be a similar color to the boots and I think they look good styled together.
I’ve also worn these boots with one of my Christy Dawn dresses to help transition the look from summer to fall!
