I know summer is coming to an end but that doesn’t mean your workout routine should! I have to admit that I haven’t been super consistent with working out this summer. I didn’t take any trips to the beach or tropical vacations so I didn’t feel the need to get in tip top shape. BUT I really want to be healthy so I’m trying to put together a fitness routine that will work with my new work schedule. The fitness gods must have been listening because I was recently sent a TKO Jump Rope to try out and incorporate into my workout!
I’ve always heard that jumping rope is a great cardiovascular workout. Have you ever tried to jump rope for a minute? It’s actually really hard! But guess what? A 10 minute jump rope session has the same benefits as jogging for 30 minutes. So it’s perfect for people who are short on time. What I love about using the jump rope for workouts is that I can do it right in front of my apartment! I don’t have to go to the gym or down the street to the running path. I have to say this jump rope is really high quality. It’s not like the flimsy jump ropes I used to use as a kid! You can find the TKO Jump Rope at Macy’s (It’s 20% off right now!).
Now onto my specific fitness routine!
To stay in shape I like to do a little bit of weight lifting and leg exercises like squats and lunges. Since I’m too lazy (and don’t want to spend the money) to go to a gym I do the P90X videos at home. Have any of you tried them? I also like to get some running in once or twice a week but now that I have this jump rope I plan on adding a couple minutes of jumping after my P90X workout to get my cardio in.
I also think healthy eating is important. I’m really trying to cut back on the burgers and fries (it’s so hard!). I’ve been looking into protein and veggie recipes and my favorite new food to make are these Italian Style Stuffed Red Peppers. They have red peppers, spinach and ground turkey instead of ground beef. Plus they are so yummy!
