Last night my husband and I went to a 1920’s themed wedding! We were encouraged to wear 20’s style attire so I tried to put together a modern 20’s look without breaking the bank.
Modern 20’s
The hardest thing to find was the dress. I really wanted a beaded cocktail dress but those things can get expensive! Not only that but I was looking for one with a 20’s flair. I found the perfect dresses at Nordstrom’s – these Adrianna Papell dresses are modern and have that 20’s art deco beading that I was looking for but I did not like the price! So I turned to eBay! I tried on a few of the dresses in Nordstrom to find my size and then stalked eBay for an Adrianna Papell dress that would hopefully be more affordable. I was lucky that I found this for $75! I was able to buy it right away so I didn’t even have to bid on it. I was running a bit of a risk because it was not returnable and I wasn’t exactly sure of my size. But I think it worked out ok!
For my accessories I added a pearl necklace and bracelet, beaded headband, and silver heels. I would have added some simple earrings but I forgot! The great thing about the 20’s is you can layer on the jewelry and kind of go over the top if you want.
Hair and makeup was the toughest part for me. I’m not very good at doing my eye makeup and in the 20’s they were all about a dramatic eye. I tried my best to create a smokey eye with my Bare Minerals palette. I added false lashes for more drama! This was the first time I’m tried fake lashes. It was actually a lot easier to apply than I thought! I finished off the look with dark red lips and I followed this tutorial for the updo.
And if you haven’t already, I’d really appreciate your vote for my outfit for the Beverly Center Fall Fashion Challenge. Thanks so much!
