As I’m getting older (almost 31!) I’m starting to gravitate towards minimalism: neutral color palettes, clean lines and texture. My go-to places to shop for minimalist fashions are Everlane and COS. Today I’m combining them both in one outfit! I picked up this structure tee last year and it’s one of my favorites. It’s boxy but that’s what makes it interesting. I just picked up these tie waist trousers from COS last week. I have been looking for a pair of black pants for spring and these are perfect. The fabric is really lightweight and the tie waist is a fun touch. I really wanted these paperbag bow tied crops from Anthro last year but I waited too long and they sold out of my size. So when I saw these I knew I had to get them! They are a little more than I usually spend on a pair of pants but I consider them a closet staple so I decided to make the purchase*.

I also have to mention this amazing collar necklace. Dear Survivor specializes in handmade leather goods and jewelry – like this amazing copper collar necklace. And 10% off all the proceeds go to supporting human trafficking survivors in California. Christine is the founder and designer of Dear Survivor and you can read more about her story here.

*You may have noticed that I’m spending a little more on items than I usually do. I’m trying to invest in quality pieces over quantity. So items that I feel are essential in my closet I’m going to spend a little more on. It’s also because in a year or so my husband and I are moving back to the east coast where my husband will switch jobs from Assistant Director to Farmer. Which means our income will decrease significantly and I might not be able to spend a lot of money on clothes! (So Sad). So I’m trying to fill as many holes in my closet and hopefully get some nice pieces that will last a long time!

  1. I think you look fabulous, and the shoes add a nice touch of interest. I just did a post on quality vs quantity (http://bit.ly/1o2KjIW if you’re interested) —everyone has their own opinion, but I almost think it’s better to spend the extra on one of a kind items. The black pants look great on you, but it’s my theory that you probably could find some less expensive ones too! I guess as I’ve gotten older, I realize pretty much nothing lasts forever. jodie

  2. Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. Tomorrow is the 50th. I hope you can make it. I love this outfit. The pale pink with black is so elegant. The necklace is a real head turner.
