4 Layered Winter Outfit Combos to Keep You Warm and Stylish

I know all of the spring collections have started to drop, but I’m still in winter mode over here! There’s snow on the ground, and temps are in the 30’s… brrr. Needless to say, I’m still rocking my winter outfits. Below you’ll find a couple of my favorite looks from the past couple of months!

Winter Outfit with Wool Mini Skirt and Black Boots

I’m definitely drawn to greys and blacks in the winter, so this outfit is one of my go-tos. But what keeps this outfit from being boring and flat is the mix of textures and brown accents.

Sezane winter review; the Jefferson Coat and Bridget Boots

I started with this cute houndstooth wool mini skirt with black velvet trim. Already, this skirt brings the pattern and texture! I paired my grey Amiel Jumper with the skirt to pick up the grey tones (and because it’s super comfy!).

Next up are the boots! The Sezane Bridget Boots are a new addition to my boot collection this year. They are a slip-on boot with an under 2″ heel. I really appreciate that low heel! And my secret for wearing boots with a mini skirt is fleece-lined tights! Totally a game-changer. I can wear skirts in the winter and not feel cold at all!

Another new addition to my winter wardrobe is the Jefferson Coat. I love this coat because it’s a classic design, slightly oversized, and 100% wool. Honestly, I think it’s the best winter coat Sézane offers right now. If I’m spending a couple hundred on a coat, I want to make sure it’s 100% wool! I also think this coat won’t go out of style, making it a coat worth investing in. Finally, the herringbone print on this coat adds another layer of interest to my outfit.

Last, but not least, I added my suede Gary Maxi Bag. I could have chosen a black bag to match the rest of the black in my outfit. But the brown suede pulls out the brown tones in my skirt and adds depth to my look. It’s definitely ok to mix black and browns!

The key to winter dressing is layers. And a great layer to have in your closet is a quilted jacket. I definitely could have added my Jefferson Coat to this look, but at the time I shot this, it wasn’t that chilly yet! But to winterize my outfit even more, adding the Jefferson Coat and a hooded scarf. I recently got the red Amine Hood from Rouje, and it would be PERFECT for this outfit! It would tie in the red from the jacket and my socks while also keeping me warm!

I’ve definitely worn a mini skirt with this look, but a pair of wide-leg jeans also looks great and keeps the look more casual. My favorite pair is the Ayla from Citizens of Humanity (full review here). But I just got a pair of Sézane’s Wide Leg denim, and I love it too! I believe the Sézane pair is longer than the pair I’m wearing, which would work better for the shoes. I’m already tall, and the heels are high, so it’s hard to find pants that are long enough sometimes!

Winter Outfit with a Long Knit Dress + Oversized Wool Coat

Yes, I did take these photos in the fall, but it’s definitely a winter outfit! Sézane does knit dresses and separates really well. Not only do I love the designs, but the fabric is really comfortable, too. I’m wearing the Hilary Dress, which is a merino wool/cotton blend. The merino wool is soft and not itchy, and the cotton keeps it from being too warm. And it has just enough stretch to hug the body nicely.

I had to pair my long knit dress with my long wool coat! When you are wearing long dresses, you want a coat that is as long or longer so that it doesn’t cut off your body and make you look shorter. The Jefferson coat is perfect because it’s as long as the knit dress. I’m not too thrilled about the bottom of my leg showing with the short boots, so next time I’d wear knee-high boots with a heel to elongate my legs.

Winter Outfit with Wool Sweaters and Wool Mini Skirts

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge fan of wool mini skirts with boots and sweaters! Every year, I add another mini skirt from Sézane to my collection. My favorite is the Malia Skirt (seen below right). It’s simple but comfortable and always has cute colors/prints.

I definitely have a go-to outfit combo: a wool mini skirt, knee-high boots, a long coat, and a sweater. In the top left photo, I’ve paired my Pyne + Smith sweater vest with the Laure Skirt. In the top right photo, I paired my Christy Dawn Enid Sweater with the Malia Skirt. I love these pairings because I can add texture and print together.
