I started using ILIA Beauty products in July of 2020 and since then I’ve been HOOKED. I first fell in love with the packaging and overall brand aesthetic – plus the fact that they are a clean beauty brand. The products are formulated WITHOUT talc, parabens, phthalates, petroleum, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, BHA/BHT, propylene glycol, PEG’s, cyclomethicones, and chemical screens. They are also cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified. Then I started using the products and realized they ACTUALLY WORKED.
I have a 5 Minute Makeup post featuring a few ILIA products but since then I’ve picked up even more products and wanted to dedicate a whole post to the brand. So without further adieu…
ILIA Beauty Review
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Review
I would say the Super Serum Skin Tint is the hero product from ILIA’s line up. They call it skincare and makeup in one with a formula that helps nourish and smooth out your skin. It’s a tinted mineral SPF40 serum that feels like a tinted moisturizer. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, plant based Squalane, and Niacinamide which are all great ingredients for plumping and moisturizing skin!
At first I was a little unimpressed with the coverage but I think I was just used to my IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream which is light to medium coverage. The Skin Tint definitely is VERY light coverage so it took me some time to get used to it. It’s very liquidy so I have to apply it with my fingers. Somehow, the Skin Tint magically smooths out your natural complexion and makes you glow. I actually prefer the Skin Tint coverage now and it’s my go-to everyday!
The Skin Tint is also very dewy. I’m used to a more matte finish with foundations so it took me a little bit to adjust to this as well. Now I actually prefer the dewiness and feel like the moisture is great for my dry skin. Throughout the day it absorbs more so I don’t feel like it’s too greasy. But I will use ILIA’s powder on my T-zone and eyes to help set the Skin Tint and keep it from creasing (more on that below).
Choosing Your Shade
I was unsure of my shade so I contacted Customer Service and they were very helpful. You can send them a photo of your face and they will suggest a shade. You can also tell them what foundation you are currently using so they can shade match. Customer Service suggested I go with Balos ST3 based off my photo. However, they said that the Formosa ST4 shade was the closest match to my favorite IT Cosmetics shade so I decided to go with Formosa. I think either shade would have worked but I do like the Formosa coloring. The Skin Tint does start out lighter on your skin and then adjusts to the right shade after a minute or two. I will say that the Formosa shade is probably a little too dark for my winter skin right now but it still works.
ILIA True Skin Serum Foundation Review
If you are looking for a little more coverage then you should check out the True Skin Serum Foundation. It offers more coverage and a more matte finish than the Skin Tint but is still light and natural.
I think this is a great option if you need more coverage but don’t want a heavy foundation. I feel like this is still lighter than my IT Cosmetics CC+ cream. I’m using the Serum Foundation in my 5 Minute Makeup Routine post if you want to see it in action. It is thicker than the Skin Tint so I can apply it with my beauty blender or buff it out with a brush.
There’s nothing wrong with the Serum Foundation but I prefer the Skin Tint. The Skin Tint is more hydrating which I feel like I need for my drier skin. The foundation also doesn’t contain SPF so if you use this product you’ll need to use an SPF moisturizer.
ILIA True Skin Serum Concealer Review
The True Skin Serum Concealer is great to have on hand for when you have spots or dark circles to cover up. I’ll use the concealer in combination with the Skin Tint when I need a little extra coverage. I’m not a huge fan of concealer though and luckily my skin doesn’t really need it. I find that it makes my skin look a little cakey.
ILIA Soft Focus Finishing Powder Review
The Soft Focus Finishing Powder is a lightweight, talc-free powder that helps set makeup and give skin a blurred, soft finish.
I LOVE this stuff. The powder is so fine (thanks to being milled 5 times as opposed to 3) so you really can’t see it on your skin. It doesn’t settle into creases or cake. I use the powder around my T-Zone and eyes to help mattify the Skin Tint and prevent creases.
ILIA also offers a Radiant Translucent Powder that’s tinted and contains SPF. I haven’t tried this powder and I’m not sure what else is different about it, but if you prefer a tint and SPF then you might want to look into the Translucent Powder.
ILIA True Skin Radiant Priming Serum Review
The True Skin Radiant Priming Serum supposedly has a tightening effect to help diminish the look of pores and fine lines. It gives the skin a soft feel and helps prime the skin for makeup application – without the use of silicones!
It’s hard to find a primer without silicones so that makes this primer a winner in my opinion. It does make your skin feel soft and silky and I feel like it’s even great on it’s own for days when you don’t feel like wearing makeup. I noticed that it does have a tiny gold shimmer if you look closely but you can’t really see that on your skin. I’m sure it just helps to give you a subtle glow.
I think this primer is great if you have normal to oily skin. My skin is slightly dry right now so I don’t feel like I necessarily need this primer. My Skin Tint lasts all day with just a little bit of finishing powder. BUT I still love this primer and would definitely choose this over other primers.
ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara Review
The Limitless Lash Mascara is another all star product from ILIA. It features a duel sided brush for perfect application. One side is shorter and curved to help with curl and volume. And the other side is longer and straight to help lengthen and separate.
This is probably my favorite mascara right now. I have the hardest time finding mascaras that work for me because my lashes are heavy and most mascaras weight them down even more. I even tried an expensive “curling” mascara but all it did was weigh my lashes down so that they didn’t even look curled. The ILIA mascara is light, doesn’t clump, and doesn’t flake so it actually works for my lashes! I also LOVE the applicator. The dual side helps to curl and separate my lashes so they look long and clump free. I will definitely be buying this mascara again.
ILIA Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment Review
The Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment is a creamy formula for lips or cheeks that goes on smooth and dries to a matte finish. I have the Stutter shade and I LOVE IT. The product applies really nicely to my lips and cheeks and is easy to blend and layer. I’ll usually dab some of the color on my fingertips and apply to my lips and cheeks for a soft, diffused look. Of all the ILIA lip products I’ve tried, Color Haze is my favorite.
ILIA Multi-Stick Review
The Multi-Stick is a creamy on-the-go stick of color for your lips and cheeks. I’m not a huge fan of this product although I suppose it does get the job done. I found it hard to apply and a little dry. It is especially hard to apply on my lips because the tube is so big. I’d have to use my fingertips whereas with the Color Haze I can apply the product directly from the tube to my lips OR use my fingers.
ILIA Tinted Lip Conditioner Review
The Tinted Lip Conditioner is a mix of a balm and lipstick. It’s a nourishing formula that goes on slightly sheer but builds to a deeper shade with more applications. As someone with dry lips, I have to have lip colors that are very hydrating so this definitely works for me. I haven’t tried ILIA’s High Impact Lipstick so I can’t compare the two. But to me, the Lip Conditioner feels like a “regular” hydrating lipstick.
ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil Review
If you are looking for a glossier color then the Tinted Lip Oil is for you. It gives you a light, hydrating color on your lips without being too sticky. The Lip Oil can also be used over top any of the other ILIA lip colors.
I only have a sample size of the Lip Oil but it’s nice. I don’t find myself reaching for it as much because I have other tinted lip oils that I like better.
ILIA Liquid Light Serum Highlighter Review
The Liquid Light Serum Highlighter is a gel based formula that offers a subtle glow and some UV light and pollution protection due to the Marine Actives. I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of highlighters or shimmer so I don’t find myself reaching for this product often. It also dries really quickly so I find it hard to blend. ILIA mentions that this product provides blue light protection – but that would only be beneficial if you apply this product generously over your entire face (which you probably aren’t going to do). On ILIA’s website they suggested that you could mix this product with your foundation or moisturizer for a subtle all over glow. I haven’t tried that yet but that might work better for me.
ILIA Lip Wrap Hydrating Mask
The Lip Hydrating Mask is a moisturizing lip balm with Salicornia and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate lips. This product has a similar feel to Laneige’s Lip Mask but it’s not as thick or gooey. I found that it’s light enough to use during the day as well, whereas Laneige’s Lip Mask is too thick. The Lip Wrap has a very very light lavender/camomile scent, which is nice. Overall, I like using this product because I like the consistency. It just feels really nice on my lips. As far as hydration goes, it doesn’t last all day or all night for me. I feel like you need to reapply it if you have really dry lips.

My Favorite ILIA Products
While all of the ILIA products are really nice, these are the products I would buy again: Super Serum Skin Tint, Soft Focus Finishing Powder, Limitless Lash Mascara, Priming Serum and the Color Haze.
You can also shop ILIA Beauty at Sephora!
And that’s it! These are all the ILIA products I’ve been able to try out so far. I’ll be updating this post if/when I try out new products. If you have any questions just let me know!
