Fall Floral and My Bad Day

Blazer: H&M, Top: H&M, Pants: Target, Purse: Coach Factory, Boots: Target, Necklace: GreenTeaJewels via Etsy, Bracelet: Jess LC, Lips: L’Oreal Divine Wine
First, lets talk about the outfit.  I finally caved and jumped on board the floral pant trend.  Luckily, it cost me less than $20. Thanks Target! I love this particular floral print because its a more subdued floral which makes it perfect for fall! My husband, on the other hand, is not such a fan.  He walked into the room, saw my pants and said, “What are you wearing?”.  Can’t win over everyone I guess.
Now onto the bad day.  It all went down on Halloween.  I normally have a pretty good experience with Halloween so I wasn’t expecting anything crazy to happen.  I got my first job in about a week and a half. Yay!  When I got to the studio parking lot it was full and the attendants told me to find street parking.  Little did I know there is NO street parking anywhere close to the studio.  So while I’m in some random neighborhood looking for parking I get into a fender bender with another car.  Which made me very late for work.  Later that day I get booked on a job for Thursday. Yay! Only to find out they need me to use my car (which is damaged) so they have to cancel me. 🙁 I end up working until midnight and on my way home I have to drive through Hollywood.  It just so happens that they close one of the major roads for the Halloween Walk.  It was like driving in rush hour traffic…at 12:30am.  What?! Seriously, where is everyone going at 12:30am on a Wednesday night?  So it takes me twice as long to get home.
So maybe this doesn’t sound like that big of a deal but to me it was a very hard day.  I had gotten in my first accident, lost work and had to sit through crazy traffic.  I pretty much held back tears the entire day and was exhausted when I got home.  Now I’m not telling you this story for pity.  Because as I was sitting at home today I realized that my bad day is NOTHING compared to what some people are going through right now.  Especially with Sandy destroying people’s homes, property and even taking lives I realized that people are dealing with 10 times worse than what I had to deal with.  So what I learned from this bad day is:
1) I’m a wimp.
2) Don’t listen to parking attendants.
3) Be grateful for everything I’ve been blessed with – even my “bad” day.  Because someone always has it worse.
I’m blessed to have insurance to take care of the accident.  Blessed to have had my job cancelled for the next day because I would have only gotten a couple hours of sleep.  And blessed to have a flexible job that lets me take 2 days off to recover (I told you I’m a wimp!).

  1. Well first of all I just want to say that I think you look stunning, and you work the fall trends and those floral pants SO well. As for your bad day, I've had a car accident (two!) before and they are not the funnest of things to have happen, especially when you've just started a new day. Anyway, I always figure things can only get better right?! x

  2. awww. first of all 1) i love experimenting with new "trends" but not having to pay crazy expensive prices to keep up with styles… $20 is not bad for trying something new =) i like em! haha i definitely think its more of a trend that GIRLS will appreciate more than most guys haha.

    2) haha i enjoyed reading ur story. it's totally awesome that you're able to see your problems as small in comparison to the whole scheme of things. =) it's just sometimes everything all at once is overwhelming right? but i'm sure you'll have better brighter days ahead =)

  3. Getting into your first car accident ruins the entire day and kind of the entire week. When I got into my first one I was a hysterical mess and I thought that life couldn't go on so you are doing better than I was!

  4. LA has a way, doesn't it?? Traffic and parking and dudes who just have no clue how fabulous floral jeans are? I wore a camo pair (from Target as well) a few weeks back and I think the hubs thought I had lost my mind! lol. I think we have to have bad days every once in a while so that we can sit back and think about how good we really do have it.
Love your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine. Hope to see you at the next Bloggywood event….so bummed I missed the last one.

  10. I'm a lot like you too. When things go wrong, it's hard for me to see the bight side unless I put things in perspective. In other news, I saw someone with the same floral pants as you! I might go to target myself soon!

  11. Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your terrible day, but what a fabulous life lesson to learn. We all deal with our own struggles and sometimes it's hard to remember that there are so many others out there that are in much worse positions. I always have to step back and remind myself about how lucky I am. Well, you sure look fabulous!! LOVE that berry top and lips on you! LOVE those floral pants!
