Fall Capsule Wardrobe Guide 2021

*Originally published in 2020. Updated for 2021

When I went to create a fall capsule for 2021 I realized that I still loved my fall capsule from last year. All the pieces I included in this guide last year are truly closet staples and go together so perfectly – so why mess with perfection? 😉 I also don’t think that you need to buy a whole new wardrobe each season. The point of a capsule wardrobe is to buy classic pieces that will last for years. So instead of creating a whole new guide I decided to updated this one with new links and a few new pieces!

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Guide

Fall is right around the corner so I’ve updated my Fall Capsule Wardrobe Guide! You could also call this a closet essentials fall capsule since it’s filled with closet staples that you should have in your closet – you might even have a lot of these already! But if you are looking to upgrade or choose pieces that can be worn together then this is a great capsule for you.

A lot of the pieces in this Fall Capsule Wardrobe Guide are also from ethical fashion brands. I try to buy from ethical fashion brands when I can. Of course, buying from fast fashion brands can be sustainable if you choose classic items that are well made and will last a long time. The goal is to wear your clothes as many times as you can before buying new – even if it’s from an ethical brand.

Just fill out the form below and it will be sent to your inbox!

Outfit Ideas

Here’s an example of an outfit from the Capsule Guide! Your closet needs a knit dress for fall because they are just so versatile. It’s also a great transition piece. You can wear this knit tank dress without the jacket and with a pair of sandals in warmer weather. And then add a suede or leather jacket and a pair of booties for fall. Both of those items are in the Capsule as well.

I’ll also style the knit dress with a plaid blazer and chic pair of black boots! These are just TWO outfit ideas out of 30 outfit ideas that you’ll find in the Capsule Guide! You’ll also get a Wardrobe Checklist to download to make it easy for you to see what you already have in your closet and what you still might need to buy.

I’ve included links to all the items in the Capsule Guide but I encourage you to shop your closet first to find similar pieces. Then, fill in the holes with items from this capsule! I’ve also included a Wardrobe Checklist to help you keep track of your pieces!

New Pieces to Add for Fall

Even though I would encourage you to shop your closet this fall, I also know that it’s hard to resist all the fun new fall arrivals in store. So in case you are looking to supplement your basic fall wardrobe with something new and fresh I’ve rounded up some cute things.

Floral Blouse: I love adding a floral blouse to my fall wardrobe – like this one from LAUDE the Label. DOEN is also one of my go-to stores to pick up cute printed tops.

Oversized Cashmere Cardigan: I just added this oversized cashmere cardigan to my fall wardrobe and it’s soooo cozy. It is pricey but the cashmere is super soft and hopefully this will be in my closet for MANY years.

Cute Footwear: I’ve included the basics in my fall capsule but it’s nice to have a fun/trendy pair in your closet as well. I just got these velvet Mary-Jane flats and these shearling mules (affordable option here).

And if you are looking for more outfit ideas featuring fall pieces I picked up from Sézane recently then check out this YouTube video!
