Elements of a Spring Outfit

It went from winter to spring just like that here in California. I use the term “winter” loosely – our winters are basically cloudy days, 50 degree temps, and a few rain showers. But this week it’s back to 70’s and sunny! There’s not a day that goes by where I’m not grateful to live in California. As someone who grew up on the east coast, I know what kind of weather you have to deal with! So I don’t take for granted when the weather is nice!
Elements of a Spring Outfit
Now that spring is officially here I’m ready to bring out all my spring pieces! As much as I love to wear items in my wardrobe all year round there are certain fabrics and prints that kinda have to be reserved for spring – like linen and gingham. These just scream summertime to me so I’m glad to finally wear them again!
The elements of a spring outfit, in my opinion, are linen, gingham, and woven accessories. I happen to combine all of them in this look but any of these pieces could be worn separately and still give off hints of spring. Linen is such a comfortable, sturdy fabric which makes it perfect for warmer weather. And anything gingham makes me feel like I should be at a picnic. I love woven pieces because they give off a “basket” vibe which reminds me of warmer weather as well.
I’m excited to add this fun linen top from Colorlinen into my closet. I’m usually a neutrals gal but sometimes I can’t resist a rich, bold color. This top is more of a sunny yellow in person (and a golden yellow with my edits) but it’s gorgeous either way. I’m also a fan of this green dress – the color is just stunning! Colorlinen values transparency and sustainability in their production methods which means you can feel good purchasing from them! Their prices are also very reasonable.

Check out Everlane (linen pieces launching soon) and Mango for affordable linen pieces. Reformation always has ethically and sustainably made linen pieces. And ff you are looking to invest in handmade, high quality pieces check out Elizabeth Suzann!
Shop Gingham Pieces
I just bought these gingham heels that I can’t wait to wear! Who What Wear Collection is also coming out with some cute gingham pieces for spring soon including a tan gingham version of the pants I’m wearing! Be on the lookout for those launching soon!
Shop Woven Accessories
Miista has my favorite woven pumps! The ones I’m wearing are from Topshop and not made of leather. They are holding up really well actually but when these wear out I’m definitely investing in a pair from Miista. I wear these alllll the time so I know I’d get a good cost-per-wear out of them.
Now onto Flashback Fashion Fridays! Here’s a look from last March. Look! I’m wearing my woven shoes and a woven bag!

So excited it’s spring (although it’s raining again today in SF)! Love the subtle mix of prints and textures in your look today!

This a very cute outfit Jessica and definitely screams Spring! Would it be weird to say my husband loves linen clothing pieces?! I am barely getting on the bandwagon this year. I know always the late bloomer. I feel like it always takes me a year or so before I give something a try. Love the color of this linen top. What a rich hue and I must say, like how it complements your gingham printed pants. I also love gingham but oddly enough I like gingham for Winter. Perhaps it’s because I only own the print in black and white? Mentally psyching myself to say that it’s more fitting for the cold, gloomy weather? I hope your week went well and happy Friday!
