I didn’t know ‘Dark Academia’ was the specific term for this type of outfit but I’m not mad about it! It definitely does describe the vibe of this look. My ‘Dark Academia Outfit’ was inspired by my new Freda Salvador ELBA loafers from their new Fall Collection (which just happen to be on sale now!).

Dark Academia Outfit
A ‘Dark Academia Outfit’ is characterized by plaids, tweeds, cozy sweaters, and anything that gives off ‘Boarding School in England’ or ‘Ivy League College’ vibes. To me that means a plaid wool skirt, loafers, and trench coat. Just imagine that I’m carrying a stack of books in one hand.
I’m wearing a white cotton blouse from Doen in this outfit but when the weather cools down I’d switch to a cozy sweater. I’d also add tights (probably black). My skirt is several years old from & Other Stories but I’m loving this wool mini skirt as well.
My trench is a new addition to my closet from Sézane. I’ve had my eye on the Scott Trench for awhile but never had a good reason to get it since I have several tan trench coats in my closet. However, my go-to J.Crew trench coat is too small for me now (hello pandemic/postpartum weight!) so I needed to get a replacement. This Sézane trench is really nice and has a lot of cute details.
Freda Salvador ELBA Loafers
The finishing touch to this outfit are my new Freda Salvador ELBA Loafers. I’ve been wanting a pair of classic penny loafers and when I saw these I knew they’d be perfect. This is my 6th pair of Freda shoes and they don’t disappoint. Every pair of Freda shoes that I have have fit perfectly right out of the box. You can read more about my Freda Shoes in these posts. I also recommend the BROOKE boots if you are looking for a versatile winter boot!
