Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans Review
In an effort to branch out from my usual denim styles I decided to do something crazy and take a chance on the Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans. I blame it on Instagram, of course. I saw one too many fashionistas rocking this unique pair of jeans and I thought I could maybe pull them off too. These jeans are definitely a far cry from anything I currently have in my closet but turns out – I love them!
Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans Review
The CoH Horseshoe jeans feature a curved, wide leg silhouette which tapers slightly to raw, cropped hem. They come in several washes and I picked up the Savahn wash because I liked the laid-back, casual vibe. As you can see, there’s also a lot of distressing on the jeans as well as interesting stitching details.
Size and Fit
I’d never tried Citizens of Humanity denim so I ordered based off their size chart. I ordered the size 28 and I think it’s an ok fit. The sizing notes do mention that the fit of these jeans is supposed to be relaxed. I’m used to wearing my jeans really tight around the waist so the size 28 feels a little loose to me. I’m sure I could also fit in the size 27 – probably even the 26! So I would recommend sizing down if you want a tighter fit and taking your usual size based off the size chart if you want the recommended relaxed fit. These jeans are also 100% cotton so they will relax over time as well.
How I Style Horseshoe Jeans
My favorite way to wear this denim so far is with oversized sweaters. I wore my Jenni Kayne Cabin Sweater and Cotton Fisherman Sweater and I loved both outfits. Next, I’m planning to wear them with my Sézane Lucas Sweater. The style suggestion on the website suggests pairing them with fitted tees and tanks. When the weather gets warmer I’m definitely going to give that a try. A more fitted top would definitely help accentuate the crazy silhouette of these jeans!
Since the weather is still chilly, I wear my Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans with my Freda Salvador BROOKE Boots! Get 15% off your Freda purchase w/code ’15JESSICA’. But I think these jeans will look good with sandals or heels.
Overall Thoughts
I’ve only worn these a couple of times but I’m loving them. I thought I would feel self-conscious wearing these admittedly crazy jeans. They are literally shaped like cowboy chaps…lol. But I actually feel really cool and comfortable! I wore these on a recent flight to Los Angeles and got compliments from a stranger on how chic and comfortable my outfit was. I liked this style so much that I decided to order another pair of Citizens of Humanity denim. I’m trying out the Ayla Baggy Cuffed Crop jeans next and I’ll keep you posted.
Now, these are a higher price point than all of my other denim. Honestly, they are overpriced so if you can wait for a sale I would recommend that. Luckily, CoH denim is sold at a bunch of different retailers so you have a higher chance of getting some on sale. I ordered this pair from Shopbop and my second pair from Anthropologie.
I do want to note that this pair actually arrived damaged. One of the buttons wasn’t installed properly and fell off. I would have exchanged them but I really wanted to wear these on my trip to LA. So I somehow managed to figure out a way to get the button secured again (it was not easy). I ordered them from a third party so it would be that something happened to them along the way. But it was disappointing considering how expensive these were!
