Christy Dawn Sam Dress + Le Tanneur Elena Tote Review

Is it any surprise at this point that I picked up another Christy Dawn Dress?? I keep thinking I’m done but then another cute style and print comes out and I can’t resist!! I actually picked up the Christy Dawn Sam Dress last year in a delicate fruit print and it turned out to be one of my favorites. This year they released it in a beautiful textured check print and I had to have it! In this post I’ll be reviewing the Sam Dress as well as a gorgeous tote bag I got in from Le Tanneur.

Christy Dawn Sam Dress Review

One reason I adore the Sam Dress is its simple yet elegant silhouette. This style combines 90’s vibes with a touch of Pride and Prejudice, as I often spot empire-waist dresses in period pieces. It’s also so easy and comfortable to wear. FYI – the only downside of this dress is that it doesn’t have pockets! But I’m assuming its so the sleek silhouette won’t be interrupted with side pockets. On the upside, the straps are adjustable and the skirt is lined – which is rare with Christy Dawn dresses! I actually think this is a great dress value-wise. It’s one of their lower-priced dresses but it feels higher-value due to the lining.

Size, Fit, and Material

I’m wearing size small, which is my usual size. I would say it runs true-to-size, but if you have wide hips, you should consider sizing up. This style is more form-fitting than my other Christy Dawn Dresses, which have flowing skirts. But if you have a large bust, there is plenty of room in the bust. The top really opens up if you release the drawstring tie.

The Sam Dress is made out of 100% Kala Cotton, which is textured and feels similar to a soft linen. I LOVE the material because it’s different from all of my other Christy Dawn dresses. My other dresses are 100% cotton, which feels soft and smooth.

Le Tanneur Elena Tote Review

I love discovering new French Handbag brands and Le Tanneur is one of my new favorites. I was generously gifted their Juliette Handbag in the fall and it quickly became one of my everyday bags. So I was thrilled when they reached out again and let me pick the Elena Tote to review!

I was drawn to the Elena Tote because its straps that can be tied to make it slightly smaller and give it a new look. It’s also quite roomy and literally fits everything I could possibly want to carry with me. Other details include several slip pockets, a small mirror, and a detachable zipped flat pouch. I love that it comes with an extra little pouch! It’s a light grey color, which I’ve actually found really versatile. It’s a nice neutral bag option to have if you are tired of the standard brown and black leather bags.

This is an open tote, but like I mentioned above, you can tie the side ties to close it a little. There is also a magnetic closure in the middle of the bag that keeps it slightly shut. I will say that these closures aren’t the best at keeping it closed. The leather ties do loosen up after a bit, and honestly, the magnetic closure isn’t that strong and it always pops open for me. But most of the time I just use it as an open tote and it works fine.

Aside from being gorgeous, the Elena Tote is well-crafted and definitely worth its price tag. It’s made of grained, full-grain leather, which makes it durable and easy to clean. Le Tanneur has been in business since 1898 and boasts a long, rich history of producing high-quality leather bags.
