A Sézane Maxi and Cottagecore Dress Options
I actually picked this Sézane Maxi dress up last year but never got the chance to wear it out (thanks Covid!). But THIS year I’m planning on wearing this dress as much as I can because it really is a gorgeous dress. Sadly, it is sold out BUT this style dress is super popular right now so I’ve found a ton of great maxi dress/cottagecore style dresses available now. But let’s talk about this dress a little more first.
Sézane Maxi Dress Outfit
I initially bought this dress because the smocked bust and loose, flowy body were perfect for a postpartum body. I knew I’d be able to wear this dress right after giving birth AND after I lost all the baby weight. It’s not a maternity dress at all but it still looks for a changing body. That’s one of the reasons why I like these style dresses – they are very flexible!
This dress is very long so I had to wear a pair of heeled booties with it. This is actually my first time taking out my Everlane Western Booties too! The light suede pair that I’m wearing is sadly sold out but there’s a tan suede version still available and ON SALE! I really love these booties. They are very comfortable and a great modern western boot.
This style dress also looks AMAZING with my new Janessa Leoné hat. The tan leather ties compliment the dress perfectly. This hat is also on major sale and I 100% recommend it. It’s a great mix of modern and romantic.
And I guess I should mention that these photos were taken at Longwood Gardens which is beautiful! I lived close by growing up but never really took advantage. It turns out, the grounds are so pretty! I definitely plan on getting a membership so I can go year round.

What is Cottagecore Fashion?
Cottagecore fashion is an aesthetic characterized by prairie style dresses, puff sleeves, baskets, straw hats, and anything that makes you feel like you are living an idealized life on a farm. Cottagecore fashion has definitely taken off due to quarantine because I think everyone is looking for a little nostalgia and simplicity in their lives.
I’ve been drawn to cottagcore styles recently because I’m going to be living on an ACUTAL FARM soon so I will be living that #FarmLife for real. Also, puff sleeve dresses are so cute and it’s hard to say no.
Cottagecore Dress Options
A great brand to find cottagecore style dresses is Christy Dawn. I absolutely love this green floral prairie dress! Not only are these dresses so pretty but they are ethically made from deadstock fabrics or organic cotton. These dresses are a little pricier but Christy Dawn is very transparent about how they make and price their pieces so you can be confident that you are actually getting a high quality, ethically made garment.

I also love dresses from Reformation (a sustainable brand), and Hill House (you can read my review of the Nap dresses here). And if you are looking for linen cottagecore dresses then check out this post. ASOS has affordable puff sleeve, shirred dresses on occasion that are at a more affordable price point.
