A Reversible Linen Dress from Aulieude

If you remember my Spring Wishlist post I was on the hunt for a cottagecore-style linen dress. Well, I found the perfect one from a sustainable Australian brand called Aulieude. And it happens to be a REVERSIBLE linen dress! With pockets! What more can you ask for, right?

About Aulieude

Aulieude gets it’s name from the French phrase “au lieu de” which means “in place of”. Auliedue aims to be an alternative to fast fashion through sustainable clothing design. Most of their pieces are made from linen which is a naturally sustainable fiber. But they also partner with Greenfleet to help offset climate emissions with every purchase. All of Aulieude’s packaging is 100% biodegradable and recyclable.

I can’t remember how I first discovered Aulieude but I’ve had this dress on my mind for awhile. I just loved the romantic style. I didn’t even realize it was reversible at first! But since I was on the hunt for a linen dress I took another look at it and fell even more in love.

First of all, it’s reversible (did I mention that?!). I’m technically wearing it backwards with the smocking in the front. But that’s how I prefer to wear it. The “back” is a wrap style top and the ties can be twisted multiple ways depending on how you want to wear it. I find that this way offers less coverage than the smocking so I don’t feel as comfortable in it. But it’s still a beautiful look! You can check out this video to see all the ways you can wear it! The dress also has pockets which work no matter which way you wear the dress. And there is a removable neck strap to help keep the sleeves from falling down – which is genius!

I did have my eye on the sage, linen Reformation dress (also available here) which happens to be a little bit cheaper but after I saw how versatile the Aulieude dress was I decided to go with it instead. Luckily, this specific dress is on sale right now! But there’s only one size left. I happened to be the size AU6 so I lucked out. BUT I believe Aulieude is restocking this dress soon! It’s one of their staple styles so I believe they bring it back every year.

Speaking of sizes – I’m usually a US size 4 which is an AU size 8. However, this dress is technically a US size 2 (AU size 6). But since this dress has a lot of smocking and a loose skirt I was able to size down. I feel like it fits me perfectly.
