A Matching Houndstooth Blazer and Skirt: Transitional Fall Outfit
I love a good matching set but surprisingly I don’t have a lot of them in my closet. I’m changing that this year with this matching houndstooth blazer and skirt! I actually picked up this blazer from Sézane last year so when they came out with the matching skirt this year I knew I had to pick it up. So get ready for all the ‘dark academia’ looks this fall!

A Matching Houndstooth Blazer and Skirt Outfit
Sézane Christie Blazer + Malia Skirt
Houndstooth or plaid blazers and skirts are a must-have for fall. Do they ever really go out of style? I don’t think so! One of my favorite pastimes is collecting plaid wool blazers. I have quite a collection at this point but surprisingly, I don’t have a matching skirt to go along with them. That all changed when Sézane released the Malia Skirt. I was thrilled when I saw that it would match the Christie Jacket that I picked up last year!
Size, Fit, + Fabric
I’m wearing the size 6 in both the blazer and skirt and I think they run TTS. The Christie Jacket does have a boxier fit in the body and tighter sleeves. So if you want a looser fit in the arms and an oversized fit I would take your larger size or size up.
Since I did order these a year a part I was worried that the patterns or colors wouldn’t match. The skirt and blazer are the exact same print but in person I feel like the skirt is a little more brown than the blazer. It’s very subtle though and I don’t think anyone would notice unless you pointed it out. I don’t even think you can tell from these photos. It’s just something to be aware of.
Darling Society Zippy Blouse
As a Darling Ambassador I got the opportunity to try out a pieces from their new fall collection. I picked out the Zippy Blouse because I loved the shoulder detail and neckline. Other details of this blouse include tapered bracelet length sleeves and a classic pointed collar. The Zippy Blouse is 100% Tencel which has a silky soft feel and soft sheen. It’s also available in black!
Size and fit
I’m wearing the size small which is my usual size. Honestly, I feel like a size XS might have worked out better for me. I have a petite frame and I think a tighter fit would have been more flattering with the shoulder details. My only concern with sizing down would be the tapered sleeves. I’m not sure if they would feel a little tight if I sized down.
I do really like the Tencel material though. Tencel is breathable, moisture wicking, and temperature regulating. I hate shirts that don’t breath – even in the winter. So I’m glad this is 100% Tencel and not mixed with other materials like polyester or nylon.
The neutral houndstooth print is perfect for pairing with other neutrals or pops of color. I’m a neutral girly so I love wearing these pieces with black, tans, or creams. Since it’s not cool out yet I went for a lighter transitional fall look and added my new Darling blouse in cream and my Freda Salvador Slingback Moccasins. I also went sans tights because it’s too hot! But when it gets cooler I will be adding black opaque tights, boots, and sweaters to this outfit.
The final touch to this outfit was adding my Sézane Milo bag. This really is a beautiful bag and one that can be worn year round. However, I do think it works particularly well in the fall.
