A Layered Double Denim Look

I’ve always been a fan of the double denim outfit. One of my first outfit posts 10+ years ago was a double denim look (that’s a blast from the past!). Thankfully, I’ve come a long way with my style choices and today’s outfit features is an updated layered double denim look that’s more on trend.

When doing a double denim look I always gravitate toward dark jeans and a lighter button down. Instead of choosing dark skinny jeans I went with Ayla Baggy Cuffed Crop jeans from Citizens of Humanity. This pair definitely makes a statement and I get compliments on them all the time.

FYI – they are supposed to have a baggy fit but they still run large. You can definitely size down one (or maybe 2) sizes.

Sézane Servanne Shirt

I have a bunch of oversized denim shirts – the Max Shirt from Sézane is a favorite. But since I have several layers in this outfit I wanted a shirt that was a little slimmer. Originally, I wanted the denim Tomboy Shirt but it’s been sold out for awhile. So I opted for the Servanne shirt instead! It’s a western inspired button down with snap buttons for the closures. It actually worked out well because the lighter denim shade works better with my dark denim pants.

To add a little more interest to the outfit I layered a white crewneck tee underneath the denim shirt. FYI – If you are wearing a tee underneath a button down shirt a crewneck looks better than a v-neck.

Sézane Christie Jacket

The Christie Jacket is a Sézane classic and they have it available year round in different prints/colors/fabrics. I’m a sucker for plaid/houndstooth so I picked it up in the multi-colored houndstooth print. Sézane recently released velvet versions of the Christie Jacket so I also picked it up in black velvet!

I’m wearing the size 6 and I would say it runs a little small in the arms and boxy in the body. I prefer an oversized blazer so I would suggest taking your larger size if in-between. Or sizing up if you want a looser fit in the arms and more oversized fit in general.

The final additions to this look are layered gold necklaces, chunky boots, and a belt. Don’t forget your accessories! Sometimes little additions can make the biggest difference.
