90’s Inspired Floral Midi Dress Spring Outfit

I’ve got spring on my mind! (Even though it continues to snow here). I’m SO ready to break out my floral spring dresses so when I saw this 90’s inspired floral midi dress at Sézane I couldn’t resist. It reminds me of dresses I would have worn back then but slightly updated with the tie straps and slit. It’s too cold to wear this outfit now but I’m hoping by the time Easter rolls around I’ll be able to wear it!

I was drawn to this floral dress because of the neckline. I LOVE a square neck for some reason. I have a petite ribcage/chest so I think the square neck helps to make my upper body look wider and therefore gives me a more hourglass body shape. The tie straps are also nice because it makes it easier to adjust this dress. Not to mention, the floral pattern is just so pretty! It’s a little bit brighter than I normally go for but after spending a drab winter on the east coast I think I’m really for some brights. And like I mentioned above, the floral pattern and style of this dress reminds me of vintage dresses so I’m feeling a little bit of nostalgia.

My measurements: 33-28-38, 117lbs, 5’7″

I’m either a size 4 or size 6 in Sézane pieces and since the product notes said to size up if in-between sizes I went with the size 6. I think it fits perfectly! This dress is viscose (although the red floral version is silk) so it doesn’t have any stretch. It does have a smocked back panel so there is some give in the chest area. There is a seam at the waist though so I would pay more attention to the waist and hip measurements when you are ordering this piece so that it fits properly.

Overall, I really like this dress. I think it’s conservative but still sexy. The floral pattern has a lot of colors to draw from so I think you’ll be able to wear this dress with a variety of accessories or sweaters/cardigans/jackets.

Sézane has this floral print available in a bunch of styles – including this dress which is also giving me 90s vibes! If you don’t want to commit to a dress then the this skirt or this top would be a good option!

How to Style a Floral Midi Dress for Spring

I almost bought the Ilena Cardigan to wear with it because I thought the floral embroidery would compliment the floral pattern on the dress. Instead, I went with the Kyle Cardigan because I thought the neutral details were really pretty. A short sleeve cotton cardigan is a great spring wardrobe item to have on hand when it’s just a little chilly. This cardigan also looks great on its own buttoned up with a pair of jeans, btw!

Of course, a straw bag is a spring/summer essential. I used this straw bag ALL summer long last year. It’s also very compactable so it fits perfectly in a suitcase (I brought it to Greece with me!). I think it’s sold out right now but Sézane always has a bunch of woven bags to choose from! And finally, I added my Sézane espadrilles. These are really comfortable and I love that they also cover my toes (so I don’t have to worry about a pedicure…haha). They are a woven design so my toes don’t overheat in the warmer weather too. Win-win!
