I love makeup as much as the next girl but I HATE spending a lot of time on it. So I’m always looking for the best brands and makeup products that are multi-purpose, clean, and effective so that I can create a beautiful makeup look in less time. That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to my 5 Minute Clean Makeup Routine featuring ILIA products!
5 Minute Clean Makeup Routine
About ILIA
ILIA is a brand that I’d heard a lot about but never tried out until recently. I bought the Hello, Clean Makeup kit which included several of their products and got hooked! Now I realize what everyone was talking about! ILIA is a clean beauty brand that focuses on multi-purpose products that are good for your skin. ILIA believes in letting your natural beauty shine through and their formulas are meant to protect and enhance your skin! Not only that but ILIA products are cruelty-free and many are vegan. They are also formulated WITHOUT Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates, GMO, Synthetic Fragrances, gluten, and talc! So this is makeup that you can feel good about putting on your skin.
STEP 1: ILIA True Skin Serum Foundation
After I’ve cleansed and moisturized my skin (I used lilah b. Priming Oil), I apply the True Skin Serum Foundation. You can use either your hands or a foundation brush/beauty blender. This foundation is very much like a serum so it felt natural to apply it with my fingers. However, I did use my beauty blender to get into trickier spots (like around my eyes) and to smooth everything out.
Even though this is a “foundation” it still has a very light texture and provides light to medium coverage. I found that one application still left my skin looking very natural. It helped even out my skin tone but didn’t cover up all of my spots/freckles. So if you are someone that wants a really natural makeup look – this foundation is for you!
STEP 2: ILIA Soft Focus Finishing Powder
I always set my foundation now with a powder to keep it from creasing and make it last all day. I always used to skip this step but it really is essential to keep your look fresh. ILIA has several powders available but I chose the finishing powder because it was translucent and didn’t have a tint. You can apply this with a brush or beauty blender. I guess, technically you should apply finishing powder at the end of your makeup routine but I like to apply it right away around my eyes and nose because my makeup tends to crease there a lot.
STEP 3: ILIA Color Haze to Lips + Cheek
I’m obsessed with multi-purpose lip + cheek colors and the Color Haze in Stutter is GORGEOUS. It’s probably my favorite shade right now. It’s a burnt orangy-red color that works for everyday wear but can also be stunning at night. It’s a creamy lip (and cheek) color that dries to a matte finish but doesn’t feel too dry on your lips. Usually, I hate matte lip colors because they are too drying – but this one still feels hydrating! And I know it looks a little intense coming straight out of the tube but it blends into your cheeks for a nice rosy glow.
STEP 4: ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara
After I curl my lashes I apply the ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara. I have a mini tube that I got in the Hello, Clean Makeup Kit that ILIA offered awhile back and I really love it. It’s not super thick or clumpy and it doesn’t flake. But what I really love is the mascara wand which has 2 sides – One side is shorter for volume and curl, and the other side is longer for length and separation. I like using the longer side because it separates my lashes and makes them look really nice.
STEP 5: ILIA Liquid Light Highlighter
You could use this step for anything “extra” you want to add to your look – such as bronzer, eyeshadow, or highlighter. I happen to have the Liquid Light highlighter so I added a little extra shimmer to my cheekbones and spots where the sun hits naturally.
